Still very young. But a few more years in bottle may provide just what's needed. Definitely a food wine so pair it with a dish the Syrah can work against...a black peppercorn steak would certainly hit the mark.
(UPDATE: June, '19. This smokey Syrah is finally coming together. One or two more years may be worth the exercise of rewarded patience, but I believe you'll still be drinking a sinewy cruiserweight NR.)
(UPDATE: January, ‘20. This baby has arrived! Still a tad sinewy but its aggressive tension is much more subdued. An easy drinking window of 5 more years. A terrific example of how “wine patience” can really pay off. Easily now an 8.8.
