Domaine des Pierres Seches
Gauthier Sylvain Saint-Joseph Syrah
This is exactly what I am looking for in a Syrah. Pure Northern Rhône, amazing weight and texture, super clean. Beautiful. Drink 2019 now through 2035.

May 25th, 2024A great vintage to drink now. Nose of olive, pepper, grilled meats, floral, granite and red berry fruit. Showing so well. Palate is easy like Sunday morning. Silky and ripe wirh outstanding balance and purity. Loads of berry fruit and ample freshness. So pure and sappy. Peppery finish and lovey granite and earth tones. No rush but this is in a great place now.
After air, more aromatic with blackberry, violets, olive and game, herbs, granite. So good. 9.2 to 9.3. Gains more elegance on the palate and really brings the fruit and refined tannin.

Fresh floral Syrah medium body and hits on all varietal notes. A pleasure

May 22nd, 2019Lighter bodied Northern Rhône style. Pipe tobacco, crushed blueberries, black raspberry brambles and wild mushrooms on the nose. Fruit, earth and good funk follows through to the palate. A bit hot for the body, but great supple tannins.
