Super tight palate out of the gates. But nose is heaven. Just heaven. Floral like nothing else. Violets, olives and huge bacon. Palate needs to fill out but man is it stacked! Acid, unreal fruit clarity and super super pure. So fresh. Insanely long. Holy smokes this a crazy Madloba. Air just might. Floral and sweet fruit with crazy brightness. Nothing like this wine. It’s fleshing out with air but it will need 2-3 hours. Will def be back.

Apr 16th, 2023Just stupid good. In such a good place. Nose of violets, herbs and super florals. Red and back berry fruit. Lovely granite. So aromatic. Just mesmerizes you. Spices as well. Clean, vivid and detailed. Juicy and super pure with outrageous freshness. Sappy and lovely berry fruit mixed with granite on the super persistent backend. So lithe and playful on the palate but that discounts it’s seriousness. Amazing balance. A stunning bottle of Madloba.

1 person found it helpfulAug 4th, 2019This is amphorae aged no so2 St. Joseph. I fucking love this wine. Heard a few reports of some off bottles but that is a risk of no so2 and importing it. But this bottle is glorious. Nose is just off the charts. Big, pure, vivid berry fruit, smoke, leather, plum, floral, chestnut, just so much. One of the best aromas I've smelt in a wine in a while. While obviously a young wine the palate is stacked and stuffed and lingers forever after a sip. Elegant and prosaic with almost a white wine like freshness. It's so fresh you cannot believe it. The energy of this wine on one's palate cannot be expressed. I've never had anything like this from Syrah ever. A brilliant and distinctive wine.

Focused and lean and with more minerailty than typically in a Syrah. Pretty good and will get better.
