Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc

Ripe red fruit with undertones of green bell pepper. Young and pleasing.

Dark fruit with balanced acid and hints of bell pepper. Enjoyed it with lamb Ragu pasta.

Dark fruit with a dry finish. Babs liked it more than me. Not enough aromas for my taste. 14.95 at lawc. Would get again.

McCarthy & Schiering, $17

Nose has dark fruit with very prominent classic cab franc green pepper, with a slight smoke and spice that reminds me of charred jalapeno. Not much of the green pepper on the palate with slightly muted berry notes and a very subtle finish of sort of a candied or bubblegum cranberry. The real star is the structure and balance, just enough acidity and silky tannins that leaves a mouth watering sweet aftertaste. Really a nice mouth feel. It's slightly above my budget and I wish it had slightly more interesting tasting notes but overall a very nice cab franc.

Lite and muted. So so wine. Not much significant cab franc flavors. 14.95 at lawc. Would not get again.

Luscious fruits, with a hint of acid and he take tanins. Nice and easy drinking wine. Needed some time to breath.
