1989 Lafon Meursault Desiree nice place for its maturity much more interest on the palate than aromatically, butterscotch, rocks and baked lemon more reductive with air

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2018 “Désirée” (which gets to hold this designation due to historical precedence) pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright tropical fruit, lemon, slivered almond, warm spices and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a lovely texture. Textbook Meursault and more importantly, tasty stuff. Drink now through 2033.

Grand Finale bottle with Madi in NYC. Had high hopes for throttle given the vintage but didn’t really have the fruit for it to hold up. Searing acid and nuclear reduction which I love but just savory notes.
