In a fashionable region, Domaine des Baumards seems out of fashion. The '05 Clos du Papillon remains compelling. Fresh and lifted with a salinity that permeates the nose and palate. A very clear, dry and lengthy Chenin with ever-so-slightly woolen texture. Worth noting that this is bottled under Stelvin. I believe that '05 may be the first vintage that Baumard abandoned cork. An '04 Savenièrres I opened recently was under cork, and not nearly as fresh.
