Domaine de la Taille aux Loups
Clos Michet Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc
I’ve been a fan of Jacky Blot for awhile, but this is my first vintage of the Clos Michet. Crisp pomaceous fruit and floral notes emerging right away along with crushed rocks and a subtle reductive, flinty nuance that suggested Burgundy at first glance. The palate is nicely framed by more distinct Chenin-like nerve and intensity, but retains a slightly nutty, toasted brioche quality evident on the nose. I found this to be very nicely balanced despite the youth. It’s precise and focused, but I wouldn’t say austere.
