Chaupin Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

A very nice wine (although I would not hold it any longer). A bit less peppery than I expected, but fresh red berries, kirsch, and currants.

Really hate this Anne. Very grippy, makes my mouth dry out instantly. Just terrible. With salty food, like pistachios, it is drinkable and neutralizes the tannins.

2009 Janasse Chaupin
A stunning wine. Took 39 minutes to open up and started with an off putting over-extracted aroma but this blew off and the wine is great. Succulaent and velvety and luscious. Tons for fruit with an iodine and sea salt core. A french wine that thinks it was made in walla walla. I love this.

Intensely fruity and quite spicy. Drank over a week from Coravin. Needed an hour or so in the glass to be approachable.

Soft and smooth tannins, earthy undertones. Very complex yet subtle intensity. Beautiful layers.
