Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve
Solis Cahors Malbec
A good match with BBQ Scotch Fillet Steaks on New Year’s Eve. Mid Ruby in colour with red berry savoury, meaty aromas. A medium weight palate with some savoury richness. A bit straightforward. From the spiritual home of Malbec but not as good as Argentinian Malbec to my palate. The latter having more plummy depth and weight. . I think the altitude of the Andes has much to do with it.

Jan 1st, 2025Fruit forward and also acid forward. Sassy sharp tongued berry hussy. I like it. It doesn’t taste like Cahors. Which is fine. Fin.

Dec 8th, 2018Light in the fruit department. A touch of VA and brett give this some charm.

Nov 27th, 2017Polished Cahors that leans in the way of suppleness and charm than rusticity and edge. I dig it for what it is. Behind the plump black/blue fruit one can find all the spice, mineral, and herbal notes one wants. More acid driven than previous cuvée I had recently. Great wine for the table!

Aug 19th, 2017Raspberries, crushed stone, plus fennel and leather with some air. Palate is more restrained than the nose would suggest. Finished with some great grip.

Oct 26th, 2016Pleasantly ripe and lush for Cahors! Still brings some acid on the finish, I’m loving this one with pork chops seasoned with thyme and rosemary
