The 5th and final in the Chambolle Musigny, Vougeot and Flagey Echezeaux bracket. Tasted blind. My notes - Mid to deep Ruby. More constrained. Medium bodied - lacks fruit and mid palate stuffing. Would not buy”. My lowest pointed in this bracket. 2 years prior at this tasting James Halliday was in attendance. James is Australia’s best known and most published wine correspondent and long time Burgundy lover with a huge cellar of around 15,000 bottles. He made the comment that he had very little if any de Vogue in his cellar. I’ve always remembered this.

Quite reticent and backward .. needed some time to open up. Dark bramble fruits, earthy , mineral. Complex and kept changing in the glass. Lovely sweet black fruits and suave but noticeable tannins, good acidity . Very long in the mouth, very complete. It probably requires a touch longer in the cellar to open out a bit more but was very enjoyable. An excellent wine with a great future .

Truly incredible wine. A touch raisined with dark stewed fruit on the nose. Perfectly mouth filling with excellent acid and a crazy long finish. A bit less of the mushroom / earth than I’d expect, but still an amazing burg.
