I've had a couple bottles of this (they went on sale at my favorite local wine shop), and my opinion has ended up being lower than I had hoped. The fruit on the nose is really nice: a rich synthesis of fresh cooked strawberries, red raspberries, and warm dank earth. The palate is round and pleasantly sweet for a moment, but gets drained by some seriously chalky tannins. The niceness departs much too quickly, turning into more of an astringent cranberry thing, and then finishing with nothing -- no aftertaste at all. So the end impression is empty sweetness. I would wish for the lingering richness of something like an oaky Tempranillo.
