Vieilles Vignes La Combe d'Orveaux Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir

I reckon BH’s notes on this are pretty spot on for my experience (expect the part on the Noirots), so here it is:

“Once again, there is a subtle though not invisible application of wood that still easily allows the airy, cool and restrained aromas of various red berries, and in particular cherry, floral and a mildly exotic whiff of dried orange peel. The energetic and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors are much finer if less powerful than those of the Noirots while display notably more minerality as well on the compact, serious and built-to-age finale. This is a wine of finesse and refinement but the flavor authority is impressive as is the tannic spine.”

WOTN for most I believe. Showed well with air, but clearly some tightness at the start. Loved the energy here. Very promising!

Quite long on the palate with a good structure

Very nice! Young fruits, underbrush, orange rind, lung finish. Coming along beautifully.

Still reticent. Needs a few more years.

Fantastic. I hear 2006s are closed, but not this one. Long life ahead.

Graceful, powerful, great depth and has lots of time.

A complex glass with plenty to offer. A mix of fruits on the nose with a mint field and underbrush. Bruised strawberries on the palate, with nice length. Still heavy on tannin.

This charming bottle was on tonight. Wonderful fruit and perfume with the mineral and acid drive right there as well. Flavors just kept unfolding all within a beautiful little package of balance.

Very refined, great aromatics, sinewy. Should flesh out with more aging.

pretty darn tasty. tasting far younger than its years. very fine tannins. good earthy characteristics.
