Domaine Auguste Clape
St. Péray Blanc Marsanne
Earthy honey, lychee, and white floral aromas. A blast of deep yellow tart fruit, hint of amaretto. Great waxiness. So concentrated, intriguing and delicious.

Dec 8th, 2021A little shut down at the moment, the fresh fruit and subtle floral notes faded out. Chewy and textural still.

May 28th, 2021I love Clape and this wine is impressive for what it is, but it’s not my style. For me, it’s slightly oxidized just to the point of not being refreshing. Then again, even with low acidity, it manages to linger and linger on the palate. For the nose, nuts and dried white flowers galore.

Jul 28th, 2020Pale, glistening gold. Vibrant, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, along with hints of white flowers, nectarine and fennel that build with air. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering palate-staining pear, tangerine and honeysuckle flavors supported by a spine of smoky minerality. Finishes sappy, minerally and impressively long, showing fine definition and lingering florality. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, May 2020)

Love it, there’s some generosity here making for an open knit St Peray with charm that doesn’t sacrifice its earthy soul

Mar 1st, 2020A singular wine of a certain style. Citrus, white fruit, flowers and nuts. A bit oily and thick. Long but awkward finish. Drink now.

1 person found it helpfulJan 31st, 2018Great marriage of freshness and mouthfeel, this wine has plenty of zip to give lift without sacrificing its mineral and textural depths. Not as fat as I was expecting to be. Viscous, yes, but on a shorter wavelength than other N. Rhône whites. Nose is stone fruit blossoms, apricot, nuts, lees, radish, leaves and crushed rocks. Palate quince, green pineapple, orange, radish spice and phenolic. Just a slight inclination of oxidation.
