Domaine Armand Rousseau
Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir
A glorious nose. Kaleidoscopic fruit with bright cherry, violets, lifted wild strawberry. So much going on and sooo pretty. Very pure and defined on the palate. Still quite contained. I suspect this will be spectacular in a few more heard but truly delicious now. Pure class.

Oct 5th, 2024Tawny color, translucent and light in the glass. A killer nose if there ever was one. Notes of cherries, tan spice, rhubarb, dark soil and sandalwood. Has "the funk". In the mouth it's so rich and silky. Very refined. Killer juice.

Mar 15th, 2023Tasted blind. Tawny color, translucent. A nose that makes you smile. Notes of cherries, rhubarb, sandalwood, Asian spice and earth. Powerful in the mouth. Got better and better over the night, some 7-8 hours after decanting. So much precision in the Pinot expression. Really good, with years of enjoyment in front of it. Guessed 90 Dujac CdlR.

Mar 5th, 2023Tawny color and translucent. Sweet fruit nose, screaming it's a Pinot after the prior bottles take us around the world. Notes of black and red cherry, rhubarb, some nice spice and dark earth. Very feminine and soft in it's mouthfeel, silky and smooth. This powered along all day. I brought this and was happy to see the performance. The conversation turned to a discussion of the red burg 88s, with everyone agreeing they are in the zone right now based on bottles samples in 2022.

Oct 31st, 2022The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru shows the influence of oak on the nose at the moment, slightly occluding the fruit profile and terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and well-judged acidity that cuts effortlessly through the new oak. It will need several years to fully absorb the wood, but there is real substance and persistence in situ. Patience. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, January 2022)
