Last wine at Chops Grille. Needed some solid decant time to open up, around three hours. Insanely dark purplish red. Interesting nose with twigs and a touch green on the attack followed by cherries, floral and a touch dirty. Heavy and dry tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Super dry palate with some leather to start then opened up with blueberries, forest floor and spices. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2032. (92+)

Napa cab at its finest! Tons of varietal character, some mint, plenty of fruit, very balanced, yet intense, like it should be as a cab from here

2012. Nice visit with Massimo Di Costanzo in St Helena today. Outstanding Farella Cab with nice acidity. 2013 barrel sample was also outstanding. This is a young winemaker worth following.

This is a wine I can get excited about. Layers and layers of depth, coombsville fruit so a little softer but this wine just wowed me. Great effort.

It’s what I like best about Bourgueil, with Bordeaux richness and some New World flare and intensity of fruit. The oak is worn very modestly, to my taste. Lovely balance within the context of New World structure.

Sweet ripe green peppers with dark fruit and modest, well-melded oak accent. Phenomenally elegant balance with just a hint of opulence, and supple tannins. Persistent.
Score: Between 9 and 9.5

Definitely a great wine. Balanced, food friendly, great depth. Will drink well for years. My current favorite.
