One thing that really stood out to me on our visit to Tasmania last month was the quality of the Rosé. For me, my palate just seemed to adore it. It was like I was tasting Rosé for the first time. As Tassie is Pinot Noir country, we found that many of the local rosés were made from the Pinot Noir grape.

One of the stand outs I tried was this 2018 Rosé from Delamere in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley (Pipers River area). It is tank fermented at cool temperatures to really make that elegance of the Pinot Noir fruit shine. Again this was a bottle I bought ($30), that was lucky to make it back to our AirBnb without being cracked!

When reading up on how this rose wine is made, I found out this:

a third of the blend is a saignée parcel from the production of the Delamere Pinot Noir. This adds depth of colour, structure and complexity to this delicious dry rosé.”

Here are my notes for it:

Soft salmon colour in the glass with a delicate nose full of raspberries, strawberries and a bit of lime K-bar to it (this is a flavoured toffee you get in NZ). In the mouth that elegance really shines and flavours of lemon, strawberries and pomegranate come through for me. I could have easily of had the whole bottle to myself of this one!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
