Lesca Chardonnay

Super aromatic. Green apple, serious aromas here. Limestone is more expressive. Lemony. Terrific aromas. Palate is rich and ripe but energetic.

The 2020 Chardonnay Lesca from De Wetshof Estate has a straightforward orchard fruit nose that just needs a little more complexity. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with greater depth on the finish that expected. 24 year old vines, wine aged in 70% oak 1st, 2nd and 3rd fill, remainder in concrete
Medium lemon yellow. Compelling butter and vanilla on the nose mingling with Lemon, yellow plum, and crisp minerality.

Good solid chard that sees minimal oak, nice emerging fruit with a hint of lemon oil. Good value. 90+-

Very French, needs creamy foods

My bottle may have been corked. Unpleasant cork flavors mar this wine badly. There is still a great nose and I can detect a vanilla flavor, but the fungal flavor is just overwhelming.

Medium pale yellow, light nose, little oak, apple & pear aromas. Served too cold but as warmed it opened up to a good low oak Chardonnay. Apple & pear, on the dry side, some acidity. Pretty good wine for a range of dishes.

This is a very pleasant South African Chardonnay. It closely resembles a Burgundy Chardnay. Crisp but balanced, fruity and mellow.
I've bought it three times. Both my wife and I enjoy it.
