Dark mix of garnet and ruby. A touch sweet on the nose with plums, spices and prunes. Quite a bit of acidity with medium tannins (5.5/10). Medium bodied with a bit of dustiness and dark cocoa. Stewed fruits too. Medium finish. Drink now. This might have been stored badly too.

another recent South African wine that i really enjoyed: blend of CF, CS & Pinotage: had serious funk for first few hours, some blew off but it remained quite earthy, herbaceous, but lurking beneath was beautiful red & black fruit, cassis, iron & graphite, minerality, cocoa & vanillin notes - really sexy stuff. med + bodied, w/finely grained tannins and finesse. some pedigree here and really in the pocket. not afraid to express its personality & terroir

This is a A quality REAL Pinotage. Delectables has it listed as a Bordeaux blend, but the new vintages are about 70% Pinotage. The treat in this wine is that you can taste the "smoked ham". Just like when you find the treasure in the bowl of southern green beans. Wait for it- it comes in the finish.
