Pale ruby. Red tart cherry herbs rose petal smells alcohol red plum rosemary dried lavender dried herbs high acidity high fine-grained young tannins iron. It's a lovely expression of Nebbiolo grown on the Pritchard Hill. Quite some heat though at 14.7% abv.
David Arthur moved back here (Pritchard Hill) in 1978-1979, interned at Chappellet Joseph Phelps Schramsberg, cleared the land in 78-79 and planted in late 80s. First vintage 1985, 37 vintages since except for 2021 smoke taint. Organic since 1996.
Liquid Organic fertilizer: water and fertilizer with the drip system. 2nd hand / neutral French oak.

Great nose! Very inviting. Red fruit (a smidge on the tart side) but in a good way. Great food wine, like the pig ears here at Goose and Gander. Stellar!!

Day 2 of Napa in the books!

What a unique wine to find on PH! Wow. Italy meets Napa. Lots of similarities to Cimarossa’s Foglet Nebbiolo from Howell Mtn, but more fruit and depth in the middle. Tart red and black fruits, tar, rose petal, and herbal spice. More modern in style than Italy’s version, but very enjoyable.

2010 David Arthur Nebbiolo. Barrel tasting and it was superb. I had never tasted this in Napa and was blown away by the similarities in profile to that of the real McCoy across the pond. Tannins still obviously need some rounding out but it will be in barrel for another year or so and it will be awesome juice.
