This was drinkable right out of the bottle. Ours was the 2011 vintage. We are going to let it open, but for now it is a bit on the raisin side, with a touch of grip and a wee burn on the way down. It was a pleasant surprise, since we were expecting to deglaze a skillet with it and ended up drinking it.
