Man this was locked up and scorchy on opening, but with air it’s slowly coming around. After 90 minutes it’s still showing a slightly scorchy component on the nose, but dark ripe berry ooze and smoky minerals are slowly winning out. On the palate it’s rich, savory, and long, but with a tad too much bitterness for my taste. The scorchy nose, impenetrable color, and significant bitterness on the finish indicate to me that this was a bit too extracted to really sing.
