Cupcake Vineyards
Angel Food California White Blend
A friend gave me this after he said it wasn't sweet enough for him, the name of the wine being Angel Food was pretty misleading I guess. I thought it was good. The bottle said the tasting notes were of green apple and vanilla, I could see that! The front was bright and almost like a Sauvignon Blanc, but the back tastes straight up like the popcorn flavored Jelly Belly jelly beans! Which is almost off putting. I would drink this again, but probably not pay for it.

Mar 17th, 2018Getting Sauvignon Blanc--grapefruit flavors more prominently than anything else with hints of green apple. Light fruit with an abundance of acid. Tasted against the Rex Goliath Free Range white and thought the Rex a better wine/value (although with vary different flavor character). The Cupcake went extremely well with a garlic and chive laced cheddar where the fat could cut the wine's acid and let the fruit come out more prominently. I would buy this again, but only for an herbed cream sauce paring.
