I confess I'm caught into the hype of cool-climate reds. I know it's silly but I like things brambly and crunchy -the French nerviosité-, I like spices and smoke, I like basically everything in wine, but in a restrained fashion. No loudspeakers doing boom inside my nose. Classic alcohol level and impeccable delivery for a grape that, untamed, can be a bulldozer. From the justly celebrated Gimblett Gravels in Hawke's Bay, this wine gives you hints of flowers (violets?) and some refreshing plum and can easily be paired with a juicy NZ lamb. #newzeland #gimblettgravels #cabernetfranc
