La Fassina Trepat

I’ve always loved this wine-it’s an interesting varietal which does not get much press but it reminds me of my beloved Beaujolais and lighter Italian reds In some respects. That said, this particular bottle from 2014 is a bit over the hill. It threw quite a bit of sediment & was a little bit sour. Maybe better luck on day two. This maker uses amphorae quite a bit.Savio Soares importer.

Plum notes hit a lower chord, & find this charming, in that Savio Soares kinda way (unique). Amphorae matured

2nd or 3rd bottle in the last several weeks, & My fondness grows. Has a cab franc dimension, & a juicy version at that. Gorgeous red fruits, acidic firmness. Aged in Amphorae, earning geek cred

Im not sure why Delectable "corrected" ( after my request) this to a Trepat/pinot Noir blend-seems to be 100% trepat. And what a 'trepat' it was! Typically a Cava blending grape. Small boned, but w vital red & black fruits, fresh cut flowers nose-as if a Ribera Sacra met a potent, gang of four cru beaujo (Moulins A Vent? Minus the cherries). If I read properly gets amphorae & barrel. Layered and alluring. Has the delish factor--& less than 20$. Absolutely worth revisiting.

100% Trepat 100% delicious. Rustic, leafy, pure fruit and funky nose both getting along.
