Gran Teran Istria Refosco

Brilliant but slightly turbid, concentrated medium garnet red core with a thin cranberry rim. Medium plus intensity and complexity, fresh red cherry, florist shop, basil, green bell pepper, black pepper. Medium body, high acid, medium astringency, medium plus alcohol 13.4% throws very little heat. Smells on the nose confirmed on the palate with a long cherry finish. Balanced, elegant. Reminds me of a young chinon

Coronico Gran Teran, 2009

Eight years after the vintage... On the nose, this is cranberry and raspberry... On the palate, raspberry syrup, cranberry/cherry concentrate... Smoke? Earth? Mushroom? The tannins are very present. Powerful but not rough. Long finish. Pepper.

Deep flavours, dark colour, strong long lasting aftertaste. Great with red meat, even stronger pairings (for me) such as fillet steak and blue cheese

Extremely rich in every aspect, extraordinary wine! With dinner or after dinner, or both 😉

This wine gets a ton if hype but we weren’t overly impressed for the price tag - maybe too young? Either way too much fruit and oak for my palette - especially with all the other Super Istrians at great values.

Brought from Croatia. Very smooth, dark and flavorful.

I can't remember if we had this wine before or after our honeymoon. I think it was before??? Croatian wine is interesting
