The Cornerstone Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

During the month of January, the Wednesday Wine Committee has a unique format...the sparkler, whites and dessert wines can be from any vintage and any location, but the reds must be from the 2007 vintage. It was my first time providing a wine for a lunch, so I was excited to see how it showed. As always, all wines were served blind.

The nose on this smelled of sweet American oak. Because of that, I leaned Spanish or Italian. Per Lloyd from Dumb & Dumber, “I was way off!” Very surprised to see this was from Napa. Vanilla dominated nose. Red, blue and black fruit on the palate. A fairly sweet finish.

A bit much oak but good otherwise

Dark, a bit brooding, but quite elegant.

Another beauty. This is Cornerstone's big boy and got to taste one freshly opened and one two days old that was simply corked again and they were both beautiful. Once again very elegant and restrained but with fruit and tannins that can let this age for a while.

if blind the slight bitter aftertaste would make me thing cab, but didn't have a bitter cocoa finish. After some air it became great. I did smell a brooding oak. this was just plain tasty. 90s zin is where it's AT
