Cooter & Cooter
Riesling
I looove that there are so many dry Rieslings around now. Riesling has had a bit of a reputation as being sweet, which turned a lot of people off. However winemakers have heard our calls and there’s now an abundance of dry style Riesling around.
I chose this Cooter & Cooter 2017 Watervale Riesling for this month’s #thetcwineclub. It’s from the Clare Valley in South Australia. I decided to make the matching recipe - ‘Za’atar Chicken with Garlic, Chickpeas and Yoghurt’.
As I couldn’t find any za’atar in the supermarket, I made it from scratch which meant I got to use my new mortar and pestle I got for my birthday in Jan - I was very excited 👩🍳
We cracked into the wine during the cooking process and while we were eating 👌
In the glass it’s a lovely light lemon shade. The nose made me think of juicy pears, lemongrass and white flowers. While in the mouth it’s incredibly refreshing and crisp with crunchy green apples and a nice refreshing citrus finish. Y-U-M!
I’m just about to pick next month’s #thetcwineclub bottles, join up here: https://www.thewinegallery.com.au/club/the-travelling-corkscrew/?utm_source=travelling-corkscrew&utm_medium=social
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
