Steal the show at a Dolcetto night. Gorgeous perfumed nose with rose, tar and black tea leaves. Silky tannin, I mean real silky. Couldn’t believe this structure belongs to a 2014 Barolo. Approachable already but please drink very slow.

The 2014 Barolo Monvigliero is quite refined and gracious, although it is also surprisingly dark, dense and concentrated by this wine's standards. A shy, reticent wine, the 2014 is going to need time in bottle to flesh out, especially in the midpalate. I have seen this with other vintages, and expect that it will be the case here as well. The precision, clarity and silkiness that are so typical of Monvigliero start to emerge as the wine opens up in the glass. Readers should plan on being patient. If that is not possible, try to taste the 2014 as soon as possible, because these wines have a tendency to shut down hard post-bottling. As always, Monvigliero is fermented with 100% whole clusters. A beautiful drinking Barolo that is youthful but very approachable showing a perfumed nose of cherry, strawberry, cranberry, orange peel with a basket of fresh cut flowers, whole cluster that is elegant, floral with a silky texture.

This needed some air to open showing lots of floral & spice with notes of red cherry, strawberry, plum, orange peel, dried herbs, leather, tobacco & violets. This will need a few more years but should be another great vintage for this wine.

Always a treat to drink this whole cluster Barolo. Elegant & floral this vintage of Monvigliero needed an hour of air to open showing strawberry, spices, dried herbs, rose petal & tobacco.

A very unique Barolo that is almost Burgundian like that was light on its feet with an elegant, floral & silky texture showing soaring red fruits, whole cluster with red cherry, strawberry, baking spices, orange peel, rose petal & violet.
