Clos Du Val, French for "small vineyard estate of a small valley," was founded in 1972 in the now legendary Stags Leap District by Franco-American entrepreneur John Goelet. Had a bottle a year ago, aging well. Dark inky purple with aromas of black fruits, spices and herb pepper. On the palate for this Bordeaux blend, ripe red and black berry fruits, complex with leather, cacao and vanilla. Tannins are round and full on lingering finish, put this in the cellar, still has room to age.
