A gift from the owner to start the night. I have had this wine more than 2 dozen times over the last 15 years & there has been some bottle variation where you end up having to send back 2 btls to find a good btl. An off vintage for most but not this wine which was drinking much younger than its age showing floral & spice with lots of dark cherry, kirsch, leather, earth, baking spices, garrigue & violets. If you closed your eyes you would almost think you are in Burgundy.

Even in difficult vintages, great wine makers make great wines. This is a CDP unlike many others. The fruit was in perfect balance with all the secondary favors. Surprising how good this was considering the vintage.
