Last night I opened the 2018 Clos Badon Thunevin Grand Cru Saint-Emilion Right Bank Bordeaux. Blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, herbal notes, mocha, lavander, cassis and graphite.
On the palate there is black cherry, plum, black raspberry, strawberry, mocha, green bell pepper, graphite and earth.
This beautiful wine is full bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + sweet round grainy tannins that move smoothly to a long red and black fruit crushed gravel finish. Jan 15th, 2018I suppose you need to friends of the style, in order to fully appreciate this "modern take" on BDX. Sweet and grainy tannins are present but well hissen under a blanket of dark, juicy, crunchy dark berries. Toasty French oak are present on the roasted finish. Impossible NOT to like, unless you prefer a necrophelia fruit profile.
