Did you know that it's pronounced Cliff Lady? That surprises most people. Tonight we're going with a 2008 Stags Leap AVA from Cliff Lede. I like this wine, though it is a tad "hot". The flavors stand out though - espresso, mocha with some distinct black pepper/spice notes. Definitely a mouthful, with an extra long finish. If it wasn't for that high alcohol, I would score even higher

Musty soy, sorrel, wood, currant smell, magenta ruby color, the body is deep and continuous, raspberry, biting acids, tannins, currant, slightly wet and slightly hot at end

For an 08 this still was tight after opening but went back to it after and hour and a half and it's amazingly smooth. Evolving flavors of dark fruit, allspice, chocolate and coffee. Given the time, this is one to enjoy

Cliff Lede Stags Leap is a strong Cabernet Sauvignon. Good balance of fruit and tannin. This 2008 is good for another 10 years, but my lack of patience set in. Luckily, it was still fantastic.
