WOW. I have to start opening up older vintages of this.....but I think that's what I said when I had the 13 most recently. This wine is blackberry and vanilla with a toasted spice on the nose. Palate was blackberry, blueberry, graphite, full bodied entry with a dark jammy fog and blackberry middle. Powerful pie spice and youthful blackberry cassis finish with minerality, graphite that kept going on and on and on. Tannic, lots of toasted oak. IMO, this wine represents Howell Mountain in its most candid state. Kicking on all cylinders tonight, this wine is in a REALLY GOOD PLACE right now!!

The first sip does not have strong characteristic. That being said, after a minute of exposure to the air, a scent of cab fill your nose smoothly.

Seems a little closed down right now, the fruit is really muted. Chocolate, caramel, great mouth feel. Great wine, probably going to wait a while before opening more of the '12s.
