Chopo
Jumilla Monastrell
Best $9 I've spent on wine. Love the smoky, ashy and dirty wine. It's pretty incredible. I love it with burgers or an empty glass. Awesome.

This one in particular had some sturdy characteristics for a wine that was only $10. The nose composed of dried herbaceous notes, violets, and peppercorn. On the pallet, juicy black berries, a black pepper spice that grips the tip of the tongue, thyme, and a smooth, yet slightly lingering finish. By itself after a good decant, this wine is nice but a little abrasive. Pair it with grilled meats, or what I did, toasted sourdough bread, topped with roasted red peppers, basil pesto, and ricotta salatta.
