Chateau Ste. Michelle
Indian Wells Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This week it's a tasty one from Washington State.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, blueberries, oak, light vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, tobacco leaf, vegetables, leather, dark chocolates, graphite, leather, earth, forest floor, green vegetables and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, smoke, chocolates, mocha, earth, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 4 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Valley is drinking very nicely now. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Peaking now. Showing an earthy nose and a fruity palate.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, and I used the VSpin for around 15 minutes to do the job. Great gadget indeed!
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah. Aged for 14 months in 51% new French and American Oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$18.

On the nose this wine is showing notes of raspberry, cigar, smoke and meatiness. The palate is smooth with high alcohol, good acidity, full bodied tannins and lots of lush cherry, over ripe strawberry, plum, black currant and subtle hint of blueberry. Also getting green Bell peppers, black licorice, black sharpie and dark chocolate.
