Chateau Ste. Michelle
Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Rock Solid cab that packs a lotta flavor for the $20 price at Costco. Tastes far better second and third day than first. Decant two+++ hours for dinner with friends who like big, jammy cabs. After Jammy, we need to add oak, cherry-blackberry-dark chocolate... and a hint of camp smoke on the medium-long finish. Why only 8.8 pts? Because there just ain’t no real complexity to all the big flavor here, not really “structured” so much as a big jar of rich Cabernet jam. Satisfying in its way a certainly a just reward for $20. Just not worth a whole case buy. I’ll get a few more bottles of still on sale next time I’m at Costco, but vastly prefer the similar price range Black Stallion for its delicious layers of complex flavors.

Apr 2nd, 2020Kind of tannic/bitter but otherwise good! Oaky, herbal notes. Definitely needs a few minutes to open up
