Chateau Ste. Michelle
Canoe Ridge Estate Merlot
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Purple in color with a purplish rim.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, earth, licorice and herbs.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 8 year old Merlot is peaking now. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Tasty and easy drinking. Will continue to drink nicely in the next couple of years.
Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine.
Wine Enthusiasts 89 points.
Rich and fruit forward. Spicy and entertaining.
I had a few vintages before, and it is very consistent.
Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$25.

Pretty rich but nicely balanced. Fun with the little bit of age on it. Pair with truffle butter’d moose knuckle

Jun 9th, 2020It was not until the 2nd day that this lovely Merlot came together. The initial fruit forward nose developed into a subtle and nice mix of plum, blueberry, fig, black tea, milk chocolate, and hint of lavender. A bit herbaceous. On the palate it feels full, ripe, round. Raisin and bitter almond. The tannins was soft yet still mouth coating. Alcohol is a bit unchecked.
