At opening nor nose or mouth were revealing a lot. After 2 hours the nose opened up but the mouth was still very closed. After 4 hours she revealed her potential. Gave it the benefit of the doubt with a 9.0 but I think this will be rewarding with some additional cellaring. Soc. M. always seems to need a bit more time. So if you have any: hold or give her at least 4h of air...

A bit early. Need to let this one sit for a bit. Pleasant anticipations.

Still very long but opened three hours before drinking. Nice leather/animal nose with fruity taste.

A very classic Haut Medoc from a traditionalist producer. Perfume spices and dust, digestible fresh red fruits and a leather & smoke finish. Limited greenness on this bottle although other have shown it before.

This is Bordeaux in classical optima forma. Blueberry, cassis, cedar, cigarbox, cloves, a bit greenish and pretty long finish. Nice match with venison pappardelle.

This is very classic stuff from a classic vintage. Blackberries, currant, tomato leaves, capsicum, smoke, leather. No nasty green edges on this one. a pretty nice match to a venison stew.

Tres Bordeaux. Cigar box, dusty tannines and cassis notes. Still pretty young.

Tar, cigar, cedar, black currant, meat juice. Wow what a muscular Medoc nose! The palate is a bit underwhelming considering the strength of the nose but it's still very enjoyable (this is neither 2009 nor 2010 🤔). Strong acid drive, nice matter and width, bright black currant all along, grainy tannins but rather short finish with a bitterness which is a bit on the green side, showing a bit of a vegetal thing which could be connected to, or understood as a bit of a lack of ripeness. This is subtle, so it doesn't make it unbearable, but it's certainly not as brilliant as 2009 and 2010. It is very high standard nonetheless! We paired it with homemade meatballs (with cumin and zucchini), meat gravy and mashed pumpkin/potatoes. Great pairing

Sociando normally doesn’t disappoint, and it didn’t today but I must admit it didn’t meet expectations neither. A certain bitterness that bothered me, kind of unripe taste that shouldn’t be there taking the age into account
