The 2014 Château Routas Côteaux Varois Rosé is a classic blend of 45% Cinsault, 35% Grenache and 20% Syrah. The color of ripe watermelon, this Provençal pink has quite a lot going for it, considering the price. Blood oranges, ripe raspberry, watermelon and rose petals grace the nose. On the palate, it's soft and supple with a notes of pie cherries, and finely delineated minerals along with a lovely burst of acidity on the finish. Picnic, anyone?

2014. Very, very light pink. Nose fairly closed offering muted hints of red fruit. Palate is a bit more expansive with touches of cherry, watermelon and raspberry. Nice acid frames the fruit. Very enjoyable especially for the price.

Easy to drink. More flavour than Domaines Ott Clos Mireille. Would still choose Whispering Angel.

The 2016 has the same constituents and proportions as the 2014. This is a very good value!
