Château Rollan de By
Cru Bourgeois Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
2012 vintage. This estate is owned by Jean Guyon, the biggest owner of vineyards in the Médoc appellation. Mainly Merlot (70%), with equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A rather difficult vintage, but in general merlot fared better than Cabernets. Attractive nose, almost New World in style, with amarena cherries and vanilla. Round and ripe, but with good acidity. Gentle tannins and good length. Obvious oak influence but not drying. Drinking perfectly now and well worth the 18 euro price tag for a mature Bordeaux.

Sep 5th, 2020Always solid value Bordeaux. Showed exuberantly fruity on day 1, closed down on day 2, elegant on day 3.

Oct 23rd, 2019A delicious left bank Bordeaux which greatly beneifted from a 60+ minute decant. The nose presents fig jam & blueberry along with notes of anise, cocoa, and pencil lead. The palate is impressively well balanced with flavors of blueberry and blackberry along with tertiary notes of sage & leather along with well integrated tannins and a bright acidity. Paired equally well with both filet mignon on day 1 & burgers on day 2! ($33) [5/27/22]

1 person found it helpfulMay 28th, 2022This is a lovely great value from the 2010 glorious Bordeaux vintage. Was bought for about 12$ back in 2012. The wine is very modern and new world in style , full of ripe fruit and flavors: black raisin ,dried blackberry, fig ,prune ,black cherry, oak and vanilla, full body , mild acidity and a long fruity finish. A bit too ripe for me, many would still like. My score 88, drink to 2022
