Château Philippe-le-Hardi
Montée Rouge Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir
The only Pinot I buy! Drinking young. Rustic and earthy nature, with subtle fruit. Needs time.

May 25th, 2024Very similar to the ‘16 vintage and my first note. Medium red color with ample maroon. Candied strawberries and raspberries on the nose with subtle caramel. Wine is on the sweeter side with a deep, long finish. Very complex. Dessert in a glass!!

Jan 1st, 20211hr+ decant. Not as amazing as the bottle I had a few weeks ago. Call it bottle variation, different food pairing, or too high of expectations; but wasn’t the same. I would give a lot of air as this took forever to open up and develop. Same characteristics as my previous note but more restrained, tannic, and tart. Not bad by any means but definitely a lower score.

Dec 12th, 2020I’ll preface this with the fact that I don’t drink a lot of Pinot as I’m not a huge fan.
This was an awesome rec from the guys at Amathus! 30+ minute decant. Lovely red color with ever so slight brown edges. Nose contained oak, vanilla, and strawberries. Cherries, cream, maple syrup, and cinnamon on the palate. Definitely on the sweeter side. This was like drinking cheesecake with cherries and cinnamon on top. Reminded me of the Dimchurch Shiraz, except in Pinot form. Could have been a little deeper, but had a great finish! Paired lovely with a sausage stuffed chicken breast, small Cornish potatoes, and cinnamon covered pears. One of the best dinners I’ve cooked in a while too, so I’m sure that impacted the experience and rating :)
Best Pinot I’ve ever had!! Buying more!
