2009 Vintage -currants , cherry liqueur, mushrooms, red/brick rim color, tar , cigar box -definitely on the down hill slope but still hanging on by the nails -fun

The aged. 2009 was a good year for me I think… Color is showing the aging. Bit rust in the beet root red. Smells like old paper, wet outside stuff, and tobacco (or maybe ganja). And dried cherry fruits. Flavors are gamey, and it has a fireside feel. Toasted and roasted. And rusty iron too. Very ripe strawberries meets a croissant. Balance is nice. Plenty of tannin on the way out. This is what I think of as the way a Bordeaux blend tastes after some time mellowing in its own juices. Elegant, classy and covered in a lovely patina of rusty velvet.

This is a classy and true, aged French Bordeaux. Woodsy, best berries, savory, chewy. It’s what I imagine the wine Claret tasted of. The old books and robusta beans are here too. Complex and deep. Wonder if I would have found it as interesting young.

Really nice wine with not too much fruit. Firm dry finish with soft chalk. I really enjoy it for this price point.
