Château Pey La Tour
Reserve du Chateau Bordeaux Superieur Red Bordeaux Blend
I'm giving this a 9.0 because it's 13 years old and it was literally the first wine I bought for the purpose of aging when I was a young buck. But also, it's good. After 6 hours decanting, it's smooth, it's fruity, and it has early signs of conversion. I like it a lot with this homemade pizza.

Jul 16th, 2017Good juicy Bordeaux Superior Reserve from the ripe 2009 harvest; style that Aussies will like because it has forward fruit; plump rather than austere; little oak nor dry tannin; merlot (90%) pumping it up with fatness and cabernets, touch of petit verdot dries off; 14.5% alc; Parempuyre in Medoc

On the nose, Light peppercorn, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, leather, smoke, bell pepper, sage, peppermint and eucalyptus.
Medium plus in body, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry and earthy on the palate with plums, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, forest floor, pencil lead, peppercorn, leather, smoke, bell pepper and sage.
Medium plus in finish with round tannins, tart strawberries and bitter almonds.
A drinkable every day red Bordeaux. Unbalanced, but good with food. Nice complexity, but a bit tart and bitter for my taste.
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
A blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc 2% and Petit verdot.
14% alcohol by volume.

Apr 13th, 2017The aroma was amazing but the taste left something to be desired. I guess it was a little bit predictable and the red fruits that came through weren’t enough to make me feel excited.
