Really good, don’t see this getting any better.

2004 Chat Pape Clement Pessac-Leognan. I almost thought this was a Cali wine--intense extracted black fruit, almost raisinish. Whiffs of graphite, black Olive, herbal pepper dance on the long, velvet glove finish. #wine #bordeaux #sommelier #sommlife #winepimping

Nice wine! Tons of cassis / black currant on the nose. Lots of classic earth as well. Medium bodied, excellent acid on the finish, tannins pretty subdued at this point.

1hr decant. One of the best smelling corks ever! Dark red color. Classic Bordeaux nose of earth, cedar, smoke, and massive floral elements. One of the deepest wines I’ve ever had. Dark cherry, flowers, and tar on the palate. Medium plus finish. Who said 2004 was an off year? This was awesome!

Tobacco, oak, dark black fruit. Medium plus body, silky finish. All about it.

Impressive wine. One of my first experiences with cellared bordeaux this 2004, and WOW. 30 min decant, then Cedar on the nose with minerality, its scent was beguiling. Beautiful garnet color, no brick from oxidation. Beautiful cherry-raspberry flavor, acidity, and balance. And that cedar. Blown away!
I regret foolishly leaving a glasses worth in the bottle for 2nd day because the nose was lost. Drink it up.

2004 vintage with basically what's right up my alley. Complex notes of earth and cellar with some dank forest floor. Truffles and cocoa with some stewed plum. Christmas night right before someone sabered their thumb off.
