Lovely. I did not decant. Opened and let breathe for about an hour. It continued to open up in the glass. Initial nose was barnyard and woodsy. Raspberries, cassis, tobacco on the palate. Mild tannins still present. This wine really shines with its harmony and balance. Paired with a Shake Shack burger.

Did this as a vertical tasting 2012 Alter Ego, now onto secondary notes of stewed fruits, leather and coffee. Maybe not the case for all 2000s, but would even say this was a tad past it’s peak.
