Funk at the outset. Then wet cardboard and mothballs. Hit stride about 45 minutes after pop. The least smack u in the face with fruit and tannin Montrose I've ever had.

One of our brown bag wines today. I usually get one right and I guessed 1985 left bank on this one! Delicious - thanks Gene!

Incredible nose. Very smooth on the palate. Seemed ever so slightly over its prime (surprisingly) on the palate although that might also have been because I (only) decanted it for about 2 hours. Either way, this was an absolutely wonderful wine.

A little past it’s prime, but still lovely. Red fruit and leather aromas. Light in body with red fruit, little cedar, tobacco with a nice finish. Revisited an hour after opening and it was finally starting to unfurl! More depth mid-palate.

Magnificent 30+ year old St Esteph, cedar and tobacco nose with a hint of graphite, silky smooth tannins, delicious fruit. Good for more years to come.

Beautiful drinking Montrose that had lovely spice & floral notes showing sweet red fruits, cassis, licorice, earth, leather, tobacco & rose petal. Still young & fresh that kept building in the glass.

Showing a lot of bell pepper pyrazines but still with lots of class.

The nose showed promise, but it never came out of its shell. Disappointing.
