A duo of disappointing right bank Bordeaux from the 1994 vintage. Chateau Mazeris, promising on opening but very quickly it was clear was faulty; the Tour Gessan just about drinkable but lacking in any interest. Both ended up in the sink and I may give my birth year a wide berth in future – at least where Bordeaux is concerned (terrific 1994s can be found in Rioja and, more notably, Port).

Held up very well tannin wise considering the predominate amount of merlot.

Fruit is gone, good structure and a good play off the black bean soup. I missed the window a bit.

Blackberry/blueberry compote, dried strawberry, raspberry tea, cacao, wood chips, pencil shavings, clay. Fresh acid, wide smooth velvet tannins, concentrated juicy texture, medium bodied, smoky-cedar-earthy finish. Lean, fruity yet structure driven, well integrated oak, excels as a food wine. Benefitted from its higher elevation in a difficult vintage. Not meant for aging, already approaching its peak.

Great smooth taste. Won a couple of wine festivals and I could see why. Great buy.

Assez mou en attaque, nez faible, le carrafage n'y change rien. Arômes de fruits rouges compotés, tabac, chaussure en cuir neuve.
Pas très intéressant, tout ça.

Medium body, concentrated, ripe blackberry up front, with cherry and tobacco on the back end.
