2018 vintage. The first release of this Chardonnay made in Bordeaux by Pierre Lurton in his secret garden Chateau Marjosse. "Chardonneret" means goldfinch, a bird with many songs. While there is little chance you will get hold of a bottle (total production 1173 bottles, and I drank one already), it's very much worth trying. Don't expect a buttery Chardonnay, this is stylistically closer to Chablis with its intriguing minerality. Subtle nose with white peach, ripe pear and flowers that complement that minerality. While it has some of the Chardonnay roundness, it is all about subtlety with an impeccable purity and balance and some salinity in the finish. Don't serve it too cold and take your time as it will grow on you(even better the next day!). Abv. 13%.
