Château L'Eglise-Clinet
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
With 12.5% stated alcohol, this wine is far less of a beast than some later vintages. It actually opens with air and shows some pleasant fruit and some evidence of softened and more integrated tannins. Needs air.

Nose fills with a plum raspberry fruit and forest floor essence floating with scents of vanilla, earthie spices and cedar. A smooth silky feel in the mouth—hitting the tongue with plum and strawberry fruit; gravel rock and cedar tar linger vanilla notes settling on the mid palette—a medium dry finish of pencil lead and subtle tannins. A pleasure to enjoy this wine in remembrance of the owner and wine maker who we had the joy of meeting in 2012.

Aug 20th, 2015Slow-oxed for several hours, then double decanted, it was still shy at first, but slowly opened as it warmed in the glass to reveal a nice combination of richness and precision, with pure black and red fruit, a little tobacco, and substantial but fine tannic structure. It can be enjoyed now with lots of air, but really needs more time.
