Dark purple. Plum and blackberry on the inviting nose. Lush, full-bodied palate confirms the nose adding light graphite. Medium acidity and velvety medium tannins. As before, an excellent example of an excellent year from a top tier appellation. What's not to love? Drink now through 2029 or so.

Jan 31st, 2023Dark purple garnet with near black core and color to the rim. Inviting nose of ashy blueberry and dried flowers. Full-bodied palate yields blueberry, plum, and ripe blackberry, with a hint of graphite and violet mid-palate on. Medium acidity and subtle, medium minus tannins. Finish is lengthy and continues the palate. A great intro to the upper echelons of Pomerol for the novice. Checks off all of the boxes except long term ageability (which, of course, is why it's not La Violette). Drink now through 2026.

A blend of 90% Merlot & 10% Cab Franc, aged in 100% new oak, aromas of red/black fruits, blossom and sweet spices. On the youthful palate, flavors of blackberry and black cherry jump out of the glass but took a bit of coaxing to notice subtle flavors lavender and leather. Soft and chewy tannins, long finish ending with racy fruit and sweet vanilla spice, well balanced drink over next couple of decades.
